Meiran Howard Counselling

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” – Chinese proverb

About Me

My name is Meiran and I am a qualified integrative counsellor registered under the BACP. I work remotely and I am based in the UK. I work using a variety of theoretical approaches and blend them in order to provide a unique and personalised service for each client. The first step to seek change and challenge yourself takes courage. I believe that you are in control of your therapeutic journey, and we can work together to help you achieve your goal. I am here to empower and support you along the way. I aim to create a safe environment in which you can grow and develop.

Our Sessions

Before we begin our sessions together, I offer a free initial consultation to discuss what it is you would like to bring to counselling. Initial consultations (approx. 20 minutes long) and sessions (50 minutes long) are delivered via Microsoft Teams. Prior to initial consultations and sessions, an invitation will be sent to the given email address for the “meeting room”. Downloading the Microsoft Teams app onto your device is necessary (this is free), but account creation is not necessary. Sessions cost £40.

What Do I Work With?

I work with adults surrounding a variety of issues such as:

Anxiety

Anxiety can be described as persistent and excessive feelings of worry or fear. Signs of anxiety can present physically (e.g. headaches, difficulty breathing) or mentally (e,g, worrying about the future or thinking something bad will happen).

Stress

Stress can be a reaction to mental or emotional pressure. It may not always be easy to identify the cause. Signs of stress can present physically (e,g, stomach problems, muscle tension) or mentally (e,g, difficulty concentrating, feeling overwhelmed).

Work-related stress

Work-related stress can include feeling pressure in your place of work, experiencing unemployment, or facing retirement. Signs of work-related stress can include what was discussed under stress.

Self-esteem/self-confidence issues

Self-esteem is the opinion we hold of ourselves based our own beliefs towards our worth, qualities, and abilities. Self-confidence relates to a sense of trust in our own abilities and qualities. Issues with self-esteem may include having a negative perception of yourself or feeling like you are unworthy. Issues with self-confidence may look like doubt as to what you can achieve.

Relationship issues

Relationship issues can vary between type of interpersonal connection, such as romantic or friendship. They can include communication problems, minor disagreements, and life transitions. You may find yourself spending less time with this person or that there are persistent conflicts.

Feeling lost or confused

Feeling lost or confused can stem life events that may “throw us off course”. It may also be hard to pinpoint why you may be feeling this way. You may feel directionless, foggy, or uncertain as to what your next steps may be.

If you are unsure if you fit into these categories but still want to reach out, you are welcome to. I offer a free initial consultation to discuss what brings you to counselling and explore what you are looking for from the experience.
